This Mesolithic Age Modified Knife was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light beige and gray fine grain chert with a tan intrusion. Nice parallel flake scars on the back side, the artifact measures 39mm by 23mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This artifact is one of the earliest dates (1924) in the collection.

This Mesolithic Age Knife is quite thin and was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light gray fine grain chert.  The blade has a nice rounded retouched distal end. Nice pair of flake scars on the back side, the artifact measures 58mm by 18mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

The blade has a slight curvature to it and a rounded distal end. This Mesolithic Age Flake Scraper was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light gray fine grain chert with two darker colored curved bands. The flake is of good size with a bulb of percussion evident on the proximal end. Flake scars are present on the back side, the artifact measures 65mm by 38mm. The workmanship is fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This Mesolithic Age Knife is the proximal end of a heavy large blade-knife called a "Riesenklinge" and was found in southern Sweden. This artifact shows signs of utilization. Made of a gray fine grain chert with a cream white patina. Some cortex is present. The artifact has a definite bulb of percussion present. Nice flake scars are present on the back side with minor retouch present on the edges, the artifact measures 40mm by 32mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This artifact is one of the early dates (1928) in the collection and found in Götaland County, Sweden.

This Mesolithic Age Burin was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light tan colored very fine grain chert. The burin was created with one burin blow (technique used to create the point). Nice parallel flake scars on the back side. The artifact shows signs of minor utilization, the artifact measures 62mm by 20mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This artifact is the one of only two Burin in the collection.

This Mesolithic Age Knife was found in southern Sweden. This artifact shows signs of utilization. Made of a grayish tan colored fine grain chert with a dark area on the distal end. Nice flake scars are present on the back side and a purposely squared off retouched distal end. There is a small bulb of percussion evident on the proximal end, the artifact measures 57mm by 22mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

These three Mesolithic Age Knifes were found in southern Sweden. The artifacts shows signs of utilization. All three artifacts are made of a grayish tan colored mottled fine grain chert. Nice parallel flake scars are present on the back sides of the two longer and skinnier artifacts which also posses a small bulb of percussion on the proximal ends. The wider piece has more of a perpendicular flake scar pattern on the back side. The two thinner artifacts measures 54mm by 11mm and 48mm by 14mm, and the wider artifact measures 49mm by 24mm. The workmanship is very fine. They date from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This Mesolithic Age Knife is quite thin and was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light gray fine grain chert. The blade has a nice fine sized retouched cutting edge. Nice well defined flake scars on the back side, the artifact measures 67mm by 18mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This Mesolithic Age End Scraper was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light gray fine grain chert with a darker brown area on the distal end. The distal end is highly modified with large retouches to form a rounded working tip. This artifact is of good size with a prevalent bulb of percussion evident on the proximal end. Flake scars are present on the back side, the artifact measures 65mm by 34mm. The workmanship is excellent. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This is an excellent example of an End Scraper.

This Mesolithic Age Sickle was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light gray fine grain chert with a light colored patina with a nice curved shape forming a small sickle. The retouched working outer edge is curved with a rounded tip with some additional retouches present. This artifact does shows signs of utilization. Flake scars are present on the back side, the artifact measures 61mm by 21mm. This artifact could have been hafted onto a branch and used as a cutting tool or sickle for plant materials. The workmanship is fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This is the only Sickle in the collection.

This Mesolithic Age Scraper was modified from a blade and was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light gray and tan fine grain mottled chert with some cortex present. The outer cutting edges show some minor retouches and indications of utilization. Flake scars are present on the back side and a few conchoidal rings on the distal end, the artifact measures 60mm by 23mm. The workmanship is fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This Mesolithic Age Digging Point was found in southern Sweden. Made of a light gray fine grain chert with a tan banded intrusion in the center of the artifact. The blade has a curvature to it. The artifact has been extensively worked into a robust digging point that would have been hafted on a stick and used for farming. All the working edges have been chipped to form blunt edges. Flake scars are present on all side of this piece, the artifact measures 60mm by 25mm. The workmanship is fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This Mesolithic Age Disc Scraper was found in southern Sweden. Made of a gray fine grain chert with a few darker gray intrusions. The artifact is nearly circular with a excellent bulb of percussion evident on the proximal end. Beautifully arranged flake scars are present on the back side and the cutting edge is still very sharp, the artifact measures 36mm by 38mm. The workmanship is excellent. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

Flake scars are present on the back side with retouched on a portion of the cutting edge, the artifact measures 49mm by 25mm. The workmanship is fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

The artifact has been extensively worked into a robust digging point that would have been hafted on a stick and used for farming. This Large Mesolithic Age Flake Double Scraper was found in southern Sweden. Made of a gray fine grain chert with darker colored inclusions and a few oxidation spots. The flake is of a large size with a very prevalent bulb of percussion on the proximal end. Large flake scars are present on the back side. The distal end show heavy modification with retouches and signs of utilization. There are additional retouches and modifications on the proximal end and right side (therefore the Double Scraper name), the artifact measures 88mm by 57mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

The burin was created with two burin blows (technique used to create the point). Some flake scars are present on the front side along with a retouched rounded edge next to the burin point. Some cortex is present. The artifact shows signs of utilization, the artifact measures 66mm by 30mm. The workmanship is very fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

Flake scars are present on the back side and both edges are still sharp, the artifact measures 38mm by 20mm. The workmanship is fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This Mesolithic Age Spear Point was found in southern Sweden. Made of a blue-gray and brown fine grain chert with some darker inclusions. Some cortex is visible on both ends on this triangular shaped point. The artifact has been extensively worked on its three edges. All the working edges have been chipped to form a Point that could have been used as a spear head. Flake scars are present on all side of this artifact, the artifact measures 59mm by 27mm. The workmanship is fine. It dates from the earlier part of the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6500-5500 B.C.

This Mesolithic Age Flake Scraper was most likely found in southern Sweden. Made of a light tan and gray fine grain chert with a few lighter colored intrusions. The flake has a bulb of percussion evident on the proximal end with cortex visible. This Scraper has some retouches around the edges. This artifact appears to have been polished by wave action given its shiny appearance, the artifact measures 39mm by 37mm. The workmanship is fine. It probably dates from the Ertebölle Culture at approximately 6900-3500 B.C.
